Italian school children as young as six could soon be taught how to drink wine. The proposal forms part of a parliamentary bill designed to prevent irresponsible drinking among young people and help them appreciate wine’s importance to Italian culture.
It comes hot on the heels of a similar, regional initiative, where school kids in Brescia have been receiving lessons in wine appreciation. Said Dario Stefano, the senator behind the bill, “Italy is now the biggest wine producer in the world. It is our history and we should be happy and proud to teach our children about it.”
