Florence is now considered the capital of culture and restoration, a perfect setting for this fair…
The International Art and Restoration Fair in Florence will take place from 9th to 11 November 2016 . It will be an event of extremely high relevance for the restoration, conservation and preservation of our cultural heritage.
Of course, Florence is a treasure trove of cultural delights but for three days in November the artsy crowd will turn their attention to the Fortezza da Basso Exhibition Centre and the Cenacolo di Santa Croce, which will provide the setting for a programme of art exhibitions and related discussions. This year, there will also be a special exhibition commemorating 50 years since the Florence flood, which ravaged the city back in 1966.
The show expects over 20,000 visitors and will have 160 exhibitors, a bookshop, specialized publishers, 5 conference rooms, 2 laboratories, a talking corner, 130 cultural events, 440 speakers, a training area, an art area, a study and job orientation area, children’s laboratories, a B2B meeting room, thematic exhibitions, etc. All this makes the fair a highlight event on the European scene, not one to miss.
In 2016 there is an added special meaning to this great Fair: the 50th anniversary of the Florence flood and the recent earthquake in central Italy. Both events did and still stress the attention that restoration and cultural heritage need.
The event will begin with a grand opening that will remind attendees of the flood in 1966. In support of the restorers and as proof of the fair’s mission in the future, there will be a prestigious award presented,in partnership with the Friends of Florence Foundation – the third edition of the “Friends of Florence – Salone Restauro Firenze 2016 Award”. During the Fair, the winner, selected from a pool of over 100 restoration, conservation or cultural heritage preservation projects within the city of Florence will receive a prize of 20,000 euros.
