These Gluten Free Mozzarella Sticks with a Tomato & Herb Dip are the perfect side to your favourite Italian dish.
Mozzarella Sticks by Dr.Oetker
Serves: 4 Preparation time: 15 mins Cooking time: 5-10 mins
Ingredients:
- 400g /1lb Mozzarella cheese (or alternatively Fontina, Taleggio or Cheddar)
- 2 eggs – whisked
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 4-6 tbsp gluten free breadcrumbs
- 50g/2oz hazelnuts– finely crushed
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
For the dip
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, peeled & crushed
- ½ red onion finely chopped
- 2 tbsp passata
- ½ tsp dried basil
- ½ dried oregano
- salt & pepper
Method
- Pre heat oven to 180°C, 350°F, Gas Mark 4. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper
- Cut the cheese into strips about 4cm long x 1cm wide.
- In a dish mix together the breadcrumbs and paprika, salt and pepper
- Take half of the cheese strips and dip into the egg, coat with the breadcrumb mixture and then place on the baking tray
- In another dish mix together the crushed nuts and parsley
- Dip the other half of the cheese strips in the egg, coat with the nut mixture and then place on the baking tray
- Bake the cheese strips in the oven for 5-8 minutes taking care they do not over-cook
