This Lego-style interpretation of La Gioconda appeared at the 2020 Grugliasco Fest – Mattoncini in Festa show held in Turin in January this year.
You may remember that Spanish woman who took it upon herself to restore the fresco of Ecce Homo a few years ago. Well, that isn’t what happened here: this is perfectly deliberate. It isn’t actually made out of Lego bricks (which Italians call mattoncini, ‘little bricks’), it just looks like it is. But it was shown at the Turin Lego Festival this year as a counterpoint to all the other exhibits, which were made out of Lego, by master Lego builders from all around the world. There truly is something for everyone in Italy…
